SIR Bidwell Branch 110 Luncheon May 23, 2022

Water

Is there any material more precious than gold? Well, one can
only live without food for approximately eight weeks. Further,
one can only live without water for about three days. However,
one can live without gold for an entire lifetime. Therefore, on
the survival scale, water wins hands down. At our May luncheon,
speaker Tod Kimmelshue, addressed the subject of water
in Northern California, with emphasis on Butte County and the
Tuscan Water District. As Butte County Supervisor for District 4,
with a lifelong connection to agriculture, Tod is particularly
well suited to discuss this topic. Tod grew up on a family farm
in Durham with three brothers and one sister. His family grew
almonds, walnuts and dry beans. After graduating from Durham
High School, Tod attended Butte College and then Cal Poly San
Luis Obispo, where he earned a degree in Agricultural Business.
Tod's career in agricultural finance began in 1983 and ended in
2021. His entire career was spent with one company, Farm Credit.
Upon retirement, he successfully ran for the Butte County Board
of Supervisors and took office in January 2021.
