Our speaker for January was Carolina Burreson who
is the CEO of the Honeybee Discovery Center in Orland.
Ms Burreson was accompanied by Yvonne Koehnen who is a
Founder & Board President of The Honey Bee Discovery Center.
As an interactive exhibition gallery and learning space, the
Honeybee Discovery Center provides a sensory experience to
immerse visitors in the exhibit and teach the importance
of pollinators, - especially honeybees - in our environment.
They use sight, sound, taste, smell and touch to share the
history of beekeeping, a stewardship of our environment.
The Center, at its current temporary location, 501 Walker St.,
Orland, was officially established as a non-profit educational
institution in 2018. It’s designed to teach the public about
honeybees and the rich history of beekeeping in Northern California.
The Center is a place for the community and schools to learn
about honeybees and a public display for the beekeeping
community to donate and preserve beekeeping artifacts that
are part of the 100-year history in Northern California.
