Topics for Ed Anderson's SIR presentation:
1. Highlights playing in Rotary golf tournaments
abroad and throughout the US for the past 20 years.
2. Qualifying and playing in the USGA Senior Amateur in 1994.
3. How Ed got the job writing the golf column in 2004.

Ed Anderson was born in San Diego and resided in various parts of the
country while his father (CWO, USN) was serving as a Navy Recruiting
Officer. He and his family moved to Paradise, California in 1945 upon
his father’s retirement from the Navy.
Ed graduated from Chico High School in 1954, because at the time Paradise
did not yet have a high school. Failing to pass the hearing examination
after receiving both a Presidential Appointment from President Eisenhower,
and a Principal Appointment from Congressman Clair Engle, to the US Naval
Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, he enlisted in the Air Force in 1954.
Following his honorable discharge in 1958 he enrolled in Chico State
University and in 1963 received a BS in Civil Engineering. After
graduation he worked several years for the City of Chico before going
to work for the Chico based civil engineering firm of Walter B. Grimes
& Associates in 1967.
In 1972 he went into business with two brothers, Ellis Rolls and Ray
Rolls, both CSU Chico civil engineering graduates. He specialized in
municipal type engineering and in particular working for small
communities; i.e. Corning, Tehama, Chester, Greenville, Clear Creek
and Westwood. He retired from his firm, Rolls, Anderson & Rolls, (RAR)
in 1995, and continued to work for several of these communities as
their consultant engineer until he retired in 2021. He continues to
work for the State Board of Professional Civil Engineers, Land
Surveyors and Geologists as a Technical Expert Consultant.
He is also beginning his 19th year writing the weekly golf column
for the Chico Enterprise Record.
